Engine Test Cell

A hush house provides a controlled, acoustically-treated enclosure specifically engineered for aircraft engine testing operations, accommodating both installed aircraft and uninstalled engine test configurations.

Our Burgess-Manning silencer and exhaust systems for hush houses and aero engine test cells are engineered to deliver optimal testing environments through effective noise reduction and airflow management. These systems ensure accurate engine performance data while maintaining regulatory noise compliance.

The acoustic principles used are mainly absorptive. Noise emissions are reduced by installing acoustic baffles and/or acoustic-lined walls designed to handle hot and turbulent exhaust flows from aircraft engine exhausts. The noise emission reduction systems for the aero engine test cells are located throughout the entire system, both at the inlet as well as at the exhaust section and the enclosure section.

Relevant Industries

Industrial applications generate considerable noise as a result of high-capacity machinery, continuous operations and complex infrastructure. Without proper noise control, these environments can pose risks to employee health, disrupt surrounding communities and violate environmental and occupational noise regulations. Implementing tailored noise mitigation solutions of acoustic walls, noise barriers and silencers while utilizing acoustic modeling, CFD, FEA and noise measurements to design solutions not only supports safety, but also enhances operational efficiency and community relations.
