Burgess Manning Vent Silencer in an industrial setting providing a noise pollution solution.

Vent Silencers

Vent silencers are used to control the very high noise levels associated with venting pressurized gases to the atmosphere, such as steam, natural gas, air, hydrogen, oxygen, nitrogen or any other combination of compressed gases. Vent silencers are offered in a wide range of standard, modular and custom designs to match any specific process and performance requirements.

Burgess-Manning vent silencers are typically installed on relief, safety, control or start-up valves in steam boilers, HRSGs, gas compressing stations, FPSOs and most oil, gas and chemical processing plants. They are also used in any industry where compressed gases are utilized.

Vent silencers typically rely on a transformative /absorptive design and can be provided with single or multiple inlet diffusers, absorptive packs and accessories such as supporting brackets, flanged connections, bird screen, rain cap and drains. Burgess-Manning designs feature our “Advanced Micro-Diffusion” system, which dramatically reduces the silencer size and weight as compared to the competition. Pressure parts are designed according to the latest international standards (ASME, EN) and regulations (PED, UKCA, etc).

The LCV (Liquid Cylinder Valve) Vent Silencer is utilized for most air and gas vents and blowdown applications where upstream pressure of valve is less than 300 psia and/or upstream temperature of valve is less than 650˚F. Vertical or horizontal installation.

We can provide highly customized silencers for the most demanding applications and high-spec projects but also offer standard (SST) or modular (MR) silencers that can quickly solve noise issues with competitive pricing, relying on our extensive knowledge and expertise.

Industrial applications generate considerable noise as a result of high-capacity machinery, continuous operations and complex infrastructure. Without proper noise control, these environments can pose risks to employee health, disrupt surrounding communities and violate environmental and occupational noise regulations. Implementing tailored noise mitigation solutions of acoustic walls, noise barriers and silencers while utilizing acoustic modeling, CFD, FEA and noise measurements to design solutions not only supports safety, but also enhances operational efficiency and community relations.
