Air intake filtration

Burgess-Manning supplies a complete range of air intake filtration to protect turbomachinery and engines from dust, sand, moisture, salt and industrial pollution. By minimizing contaminants and maintaining stable airflow conditions, air intake systems help extend equipment life, reduce maintenance requirements and improve overall operational reliability.

The right technology depends on your environment: how much dust, how dry or humid and whether moisture and salt are in play. The range below spans every common duty, from the highest final air quality to the harshest desert dust.

Air Intake Filtration FAQ

It is the filtration of combustion or ventilation air before it enters a gas turbine, compressor or engine, removing dust, sand, moisture, salt and pollution that would otherwise foul or corrode the equipment.

Yes. A rugged self-cleaning stage such as an inertial sand filter is often placed ahead of a finer static or cartridge stage to extend its life.

It depends on your site. Static filtration gives the highest final air quality and suits moisture and salt; jet-pulse and inertial sand filters suit high, dry dust; oil bath suits very high dust at low running cost. Inertial filters are also widely used as a pre-stage.

A well-designed air intake system improves equipment efficiency by delivering a clean, uniform and unrestricted airflow to the compressor or engine, reducing pressure losses and optimizing performance.

Fine particles foul compressor blades and reduce output, and salt causes hot corrosion. Good filtration sustains output, lowers maintenance and prevents unplanned shutdowns.
