The Burgess-Manning Story

Founded in 1910 as a battery company, Burgess-Manning quickly demonstrated its commitment to innovation and technological advancement. This pioneering spirit led to a groundbreaking achievement in 1928 when the company developed the world’s first silencer, setting new industry standards and establishing itself as a leader in noise control solutions.

Over the decades, Burgess-Manning strategically expanded its market presence through key acquisitions, including Quietflo Ltd in the UK. This growth continued around 2007 when Peerless acquired Nitram, the parent company of Burgess-Manning. In 2013, CECO Environmental acquired Aarding, expanding its capabilities in exhaust systems. In 2015, Burgess-Manning entered a new era of global reach by becoming part of CECO Environmental, a move that solidified its position in the global market. In 2016, CECO merged Aarding’s silencer division with Burgess-Manning to strengthen its acoustic solutions and by 2017, the two respected brands were unified under the Burgess-Aarding name.

The journey of growth and innovation continued in 2017 when Burgess-Manning acquired STI – Sound Technologies, further diversifying its product offerings and reinforcing its expertise in the acoustic industry. Finally, in 2023, following the acquisition of Wakefield Acoustics, CECO brought all three brands together (Burgess-Manning, Aarding and Wakefield) under the Thermal Acoustics Platform, creating a comprehensive solution hub for noise control.

By leveraging almost a century of experience and expertise, Burgess-Manning continues to deliver cutting-edge noise control technologies tailored to meet the evolving needs of diverse industries worldwide.
